Reopening Protocols Released for Illinois Gaming Establishments

by Max Lapthorne

On June 9, the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) announced that as Illinois enters Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, video gaming terminals may be activated as early as June 26, 2020.

Both Gold Rush Gaming and the IGB are committed to the safe, fair, deliberate, consistent, and regulatory compliant resumption of video gaming in Illinois. The timing and conditions for video gaming to resume will be based upon public health guidance and metrics and will proceed within the framework of Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan.

The IGB has also issued protocols for Licensed Establishments and Terminal Operators to follow. Please know that Gold Rush has already been working hard to implement these protocols during shutdown and is prepared to reopen locations safely and effectively.

Below are some important notes from the IGB Video Gaming Resumption Protocols.

  • Gaming locations must have transparent partitions between machines, have machines at least six feet apart or a combination of both.
  • Signage will be required to remind patrons and employees of social distancing requirements, proper hand washing, use of sanitizers, use of PPE, and to stay at home if feeling sick.
  • Locations are responsible for complying with all applicable local, State and federal health and safety requirements that govern their operations.
