Call for Action: Modify the Restore Illinois Plan

by Max Lapthorne

Under the current Restore Illinois Plan, restaurant and bars will be unable to resume dine in operations until Phase 4, which is to begin on June 26 at the earliest.

Our top concern is the safety and well-being of our partners and loyal gamers, however we strongly feel that our industry is both prepared to and capable of opening safely during Phase 3 of the Restore Plan which is set to begin June 1.

Other industry partners are joining us in calling upon Governor Pritzker and the General Assembly to allow dine in service to begin during Phase 3 with limited capacity and increased health guidelines. On May 7, the Illinois Restaurant Association (IRA) issued a letter to Governor J.B. Pritzker requesting that the state reconsider their approach.

We are strongly encouraging out partners, as well as anyone who misses dining at their favorite establishments, to send a message to the Governor and leaders in the General Assembly asking that they consider the IRA’s recommendations and implement a new approach that allows our partners to safely reopen sooner.
